OBITUARY: Vadis A. Corporon, 79, of Kingsland dies April 20, 2014

Vadis A. Corporon, 79, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away April 20, 2014. She was the daughter of Frederick and Dorothy (Buffaloe) Barrett, born in Bay City, Texas, on March 28, 1935.
Vadis was a loving homemaker and a school secretary for many years. She loved her family and her church. She was a member of Kingsland Community Church for more than 27 years. She loved to write the church newsletter and sign her articles with a picture of a butterfly. She enjoyed butterflies and rainbows as symbols of life. She was a published poet and a cookbook author and enjoyed square dancing and her two puppies, Lucy and Lacy.
Survivors include the love of her life, her husband of 61 years, Gene Corporon, whom she met in February 1952, engaged in April and married on June 27, 1952; son, Robert Corporon and wife Benita of Fort Worth; daughter, Tish Stricklin and husband Don of Austin; grandchildren, Kristie, Shawn, Russell and Kyle Corporon and Ashley and Taylor Stricklin; and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Aaron.
Visitations are 5-8 p.m. April 24 and 9-11 a.m. April 25 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. A funeral service is 1 p.m. April 25 at Kingsland Community Church. Burial will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Burnet.
