CEDAR PARK — The Marble Falls High School baseball team lost 1-0 to Cedar Park Vista Ridge in Game 1 of a District 25-4A series April 3.

“We pitched well and overall played well defensively,” Mustangs head coach J.T. Blair said. “We had some chances offensively and didn’t capitalize.”

The winning run was courtesy of an RBI from Vista Ridge senior outfielder Billy Bostick in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Still, the Mustangs (8-7-2 overall and 3-4 district) responded in the top of the seventh.

Adam Hicks led off the inning by being called safe at home. After a strikeout and a popup for two outs, J.T. Watson reached base on a walk, while Carson Bowen was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

The game ended on a popup.

The winning pitcher was Vista Ridge senior Brett Burrington, while the losing pitcher was Marble Falls senior Hunter Dooley.

“Their pitcher did a great job of making pitches when he had to,” Blair said. “We stranded nine runners.”

Game 2 is 7 p.m. April 4 at Scearce Baseball Field, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls.

“It’s a big game,” Blair said. “Our guys will be ready to go.”
