Style, good food, ‘And All That Jazz’ aid Friends of Hospice

BURNET — The Friends of Hospice of the Highland Lakes wants you to check out the latest fashions and styles March 11 during the “And All That Jazz” benefit, but it’s not just about looking great this spring. You’re helping out a wonderful cause in the process.
The Friends of Hospice Style Show and Luncheon is the all-volunteer organization’s only fundraiser of the year, so it’s a big one for them.
“Our purpose is to assist and provide services to Highland Lakes residents who are in the last stages of life,” event organizer Janelle Britton said. “We step in when Medicare and insurance don’t.”
The assistance could include some medical expenses but also regular, day-to-day chores such as helping out with house cleaning, if that’s needed. Britton said sometimes it means purchasing a special chair for the hospice patient.
While the friends group doesn’t directly volunteer with patients, Britton said it supports them and hospice where it’s needed.
“So this style show and luncheon is very important to us,” she said.
And it’s just what it sounds like. This year, Salem’s Fashions and Madelyn’s in Marble Falls are providing models and clothing for the style show portion. Attendees can get a look at some of the latest fashions or discover clothing they didn’t know about.
After the style show, you’ll enjoy a wonderful lunch. And sticking with the “And All That Jazz” theme, you can listen the music of the Lake Bottom Jazz Group.
“It’s a great time,” Britton said.
The style show and luncheon will be held at Hill County Fellowship, 200 Houston Clinton Drive, starting at 11 a.m. Tickets are $35 each, or you can purchase a table of six for $210. Call (512) 715-9267 or (830) 220-1635 for tickets.
