Burnet baseball gets 3-1 win against Wimberley
BURNET — The Burnet High School baseball team defeated Wimberley 3-1 on Feb. 25.
“Big team win,” head coach Jose Sierra said. “I was very proud of the way we battled given the conditions, fog, and the grass was very wet.”
The Bulldogs recorded one error in seven innings. Burnet pitcher Taylor Barksdale threw six scoreless innings, while Cameron Chafin picked up the save.
“We had some big defensive plays,” the coach said. “Pitchers threw very well and kept us in the game.”
The three Bulldog runs didn’t come easily, Sierra said.
“Wimberley played really well too,” he said. “We saw a good pitcher and just manufactured runs to win.”
The Bulldogs bounced back after losing to Austin Hyde Park 15-8 and 15-2 during a doubleheader Feb. 22.
