LEANDER — The Marble Falls High School boys soccer team lost 1-0 to Leander on Feb. 14.

The game wasn’t decided until the final 20 minutes, Mustangs head coach Rick Hoover said.

The Lions scored on a breakaway, he said.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs (9-5-1 overall, 1-2 District 51-4A) “had five great opportunities that most of the time we make” for goals, he said.

“We had plenty of chances but were unlucky,” he said. “Just one of those games where the better team didn’t win. We played very good but could not score.

Hoover said this contest illustrates the parity in the district.

“Each game will be a dogfight,” he said. If you have an off night, you will get beat. Can’t wait to play them again.”

Marble Falls welcomes Cedar Park Vista Ridge at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 to Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls.

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School girls soccer team lost 2-1 to Leander on Feb. 14.

The Lady Mustangs (6-2-5 overall, 0-2 District 51-4A) took a 1-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game.

From there, the Lady Lions scored two unanswered goals in the District 51-4A contest.

Marble Falls head coach Trey Young said he did not think Leander’s adjustments led to the win as much as its style of play.

“They had a very fast forward and played a long-ball style we haven’t really seen this year,” he said. “Our fullbacks felt pressured, especially after (Leander’s forward) scored. I think everyone felt pressured after. I think we started rushing and missing possessions.”

ON OFFENSE: goals – Macy Hoover; assists Britney Deering.

ON DEFENSE: top defenders – Britney, Emma Sharp, Shelbi Wyatt

RECORDS: Marble Falls is 6-2-5 overall and 0-2 in District 51-4A.
