OBITUARY: Jo Helen Watkins Sutherland, 86, dies Jan. 28, 2014
Jodie Sutherland, daughter of T.J. and Julia Watkins, passed peacefully Jan. 28, 2014. She was born May 8, 1927.
Jodie, a longtime resident of the Texas Hill Country, left behind her companion of 65 years, Gene Sutherland. Both she and Gene were graduates of the University of Texas and lifelong fans of UT football.
Party host, purveyor of tall tales and “one of a kind” best describes “Mama Jodie.”
She was a mother to five, Terry Sanders (d), Randy Sutherland, Julie Carroll, Rusty Sutherland (d) and Shelley Walton; a grandmother to 12; a great-grandmother to five; and a friend to many as she never met a stranger.
A celebration of life was Feb. 1 at USMemory Care in Colleyville. A funeral Mass will be held at a later date in Keller and Sunrise Beach.
