Burnet swimmer headed to state meet; team 18th overall at regional competition

MAGNOLIA — Senior Seth Timmons qualified for the state meet as the Burnet High School swimming team finished 18th overall at the Region 5-4A swimming and diving championships Feb. 7-8.
The boys squad was 16th overall.
Timmons will compete in the 500-meter freestyle and the 200-meter freestyle at the state competition Feb. 21-22 in Austin.
Coach Nancy Moore said Timmons broke the 200 freestyle team record time and also set a new pool record in that same event. In addition, Timmons also is the team record holder for the 500 freestyle, which he has broken three times.
RESULTS: Boys — 200 freestyle: 2, Seth Timmons, 1:43.32; 500 freestyle: 1, Timmons, 4:33.77 (new team record and personal best); 200 medley relay: 14, Burnet (Seth Timmons, Angel Romero, Cameron Cardenas, Dustin Barnett), 1:57.62. Girls — 50-meters freestyle: Mandee Harris, 26.23 (new personal best); 100 breaststroke: 14, Sydney Cardenas, 1:18.33
