Joyce Shumaker, 63, passed away Feb. 6, 2014. She was born to Henry A. and Bernice Katherine Mary (George) Zeller on Aug. 8, 1950, in Wilma, N.Y.

Joyce worked as a bounty hunter and was a loving wife and mother for many years. In her spare time, she was a district commander for the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed bingo, computer games, cake decorating, fishing, camping and cooking.

She married Jerry Shumaker in Watertown, N.Y., on July 12, 1969.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Shumaker; daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Stephen DeBrunner; and sons, Scott Allen and Jerry Lee Shumaker, all of Kingsland; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Kempney of McAllen; sisters, Betty Endres and Kay Cassoni, both of Carthage, N.Y., Ruth Bickem of Rochester, N.Y., and Joyce Sturm of Burnet; and nieces and nephews.

Visitations were Feb. 8 and 9. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park on Park Road 4 in Burnet. Chaplain W.C. “Dub” Falsone II will officiate.
