Burnet boys basketball beats Brownwood, remains tied for first in district

BROWNWOOD — The Burnet High School boys basketball team defeated Brownwood 47-25 in a District 8-3A contest Feb. 8.
The Bulldogs (18-11 overall, 8-1 district) took an 11-4 lead after the first quarter and extended it throughout the contest. Senior post Clayton Baumgart scored 12 of Burnet’s 30 second-half points.
The Lions have now lost 34 consecutive games.
Burnet and Liberty Hill are tied for first place in district. Coaches are scheduled to gather the day after the season ends to determine how which team enters the playoffs as the district’s top seed.
