Marble Falls boys soccer backups step up in 2-0 win against Austin Crockett
FROM STAFF REPORTS
AUSTIN — The Marble Falls High School boys soccer team defeated Austin Crockett 2-0 on Jan. 29.
Scoring for the Mustangs (8-3-1) were junior forward Jesse Arreguin and senior midfielder Asir Riojas. Junior midfielders Erik Salgado and Jimmy Fermin were credited with the assists.
Mustangs head coach Rick Hoover called the victory a good win.
“We played possession game and remained patient,” he said. “Our backup goal keeper, Chris Madere, stepped in and had a great game.”
Hoover said the Mustangs are still missing some starters because of nicks and bruises, but he anticipates they’ll be ready when Marble Falls begins District 51-4A play 7 p.m. Feb. 7 against Leander Vandegrift at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls.
