MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls boys basketball team got its second District 4-2A win with a 50-23 decision against Austin Hill Country on Jan. 14.
Faith (7-6, 2-0), member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, captured both wins in its home gym.
“You got to hold serve,” Flames head coach Randy Denton said. “If you lose one, you’re behind the 8-ball.”
The Flames led 10-3 after the first period, though Denton said he was seeking more energy from his team.
“We wanted to come out and execute,” he said. “I think we missed a lot of short shorts.”
That changed in the second quarter. Faith picked up the intensity defensively and allowed multiple players to contribute offensively.
Joseph Woods, Rawley Jackson and Rich Coleman each had double figures.
“It’s hard to focus on just one,” Denton said. “We have to run the offense early. We went ahead and pressed just to get the tempo up.”
