MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team got its 78th consecutive district victory with a 54-20 win against Temple Holy Trinity on Jan. 10.
The Lady Flames have not lost a district contest since the 2005-2006 season.
Faith began the contest with an 8-0 run led by junior guard Taylor Denton. She hit a 3-pointer and found junior guard Sierra Brinkley for a fast-break bucket.
By the end of the first period, the Lady Flames had a 12-4 lead that went to 25-10 at the half.
Faith head coach Jerry English was pleased with the way his team played defense, noting that’s how it built a lead in the first half.
“We played very good defense, very enthusiastic hedging and sliding,” he said.
But he noted the squad committed 20 turnovers and recorded 17 assists — too many turnovers and not enough assists to offset each other.
