Faith Academy girls basketball dominates Our Lady of the Hills

KERRVILLE — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team crushed Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills 60-17 on Jan. 7.

Lady Flames head coach Jerry English was pleased with the way all of his players competed, especially in finishing fast breaks with buckets.

He noted junior guard Taylor Denton’s court vision was outstanding in setting up her teammates and getting the ball to them during fast breaks.

“Taylor made some unbelievable passes,” he said.

In the half-court offense, English said he was pleased senior forward Joanna Piatek’s passes were on target from high post to senior post Juliette Fisher and sophomore post Hannah Cozby.

“Normally, when we get ahead, we get sloppy,” English said. “But I did not think we did that.”

The Lady Flames are preparing for the start of District 4-2A play, which starts Jan. 10 against Temple Holy Trinity.

That means teams will hold three practices and two games per week, which will allow English to emphasize fundamentals with his players.

“We had half a season to get to know each other,” he said. “Now, it’s time to put it together. We will start to work a lot more on individual moves, a lot more shots and fine-tuning our offense and defense.”
