OBITUARY: Martina Fraga Rodriguez, 79, of Buchanan Dam dies Dec. 23, 2013
Martina Rodriguez, 79, passed away peacefully Dec. 23, 2013. She was born June 19, 1934, in Martindale, Texas, to Juan and Maria (Tijerina) Fraga.
Martina married Frank Rodriguez on Nov. 28, 1953, in Lockhart area. He preceded her in death in 2004. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
She loved to cook and make tamales for the people in the area and always made room for strangers at her table.
Martina was a resident of Buchanan Dam since 1957, coming from San Marcos, Texas.
Survivors include son, Frank Rodriguez of Buchanan Dam, and daughters, Sylvia R. Noland of Kingsland, Josie R. Smith of Hoover’s Valley and Diana Rodriguez of Llano. She also is survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Dec. 27 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767. A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Dec. 28 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Kingsland with Father Anthony Alphonse officiating. Burial will follow at the Bluffton Cemetery.
