AUSTIN — The Burnet High School girls basketball team crushed Austin Travis 51-16 on Dec. 20.

The Lady Dawgs (12-6) led 10-4 after the first quarter and 20-9 at the half. But they put away the Lady Rebels in the third period by outscoring them 21-4.

Burnet head coach Doug Messer said the outcome was the result of three factors: playing together, playing with urgency and playing to win.

“(A) good win allows us to go into the (holiday) break feeling good,” he said. “We needed the break to step back, relax, and recharge.”
