BUDA — The Burnet High School boys basketball team lost 53-51 to Hays Consolidated on Dec. 17.

The Rebels took a 14-11 lead in the first quarter and kept at least a two-point lead throughout the rest of the contest.

The Bulldogs (5-5) scored 21 two-point field goals and were 6-of-9 from the foul line but only hit one 3-pointer.

Hays scored seven two-point field goals and was 12-of-17 from the free-throw line. But the Rebels connected on nine 3-pointers led by senior point guard Jacob Rodriguez, who dropped in four. He finished with 16 points.
