MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy boys basketball team earned its second victory of the season thanks to stomping Khabele 64-47 on Dec. 18.

The Flames went on a 15-7 run to close out the first period for a 23-13 lead. The Lions stayed close during the next two quarters.

But Faith closed out the contest on a 15-2 run in the final period for the victory.

“(The Lions) were in some foul trouble, and I told my players to keep pushing,” Faith head coach Randy Denton said. “We told them we were going all out. I thought the defensive effort was better. I thought our intensity was good.”

The Flames bounced back from a 64-38 loss to Granview on Dec. 14. The game was tied midway through the second quarter until Granview made a run, Denton said.

Faith junior post Joseph Woods and guard Sam Marrs combined to score 38 points.

“Joseph is going to continue to get better,” Denton said. “Sam shot the ball well.”
