OBITUARY: David Loyd McBee, 64, dies Dec. 7, 2013
David Loyd McBee was born July 28, 1949, in Austin, Texas, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 7, 2013, in Burnet, Texas.
David grew up in the Jollyville area of Austin when it was still considered “the country.” He attended Pond Springs Elementary and then graduated from Reagan High School. He lived in the Austin and Round Rock areas in his younger years, and moved to the Lake Buchanan area, where he loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of the Cross and Spurs Cowboy Church and staked out his special spot every Sunday.
David had a sweet, caring soul and would gladly give you the shirt off his back. For many years, he was involved in the Hill Country Angels, which provided food and Christmas gifts to those less fortunate. When fundraisers were held for friends and neighbors, for health or other special needs, David was right there to help and contribute. His kindness touched many lives and enriched the hearts of those around him.
David is survived by his two daughters, Kelly and Maggie; grandson, Jack; brother, Terry McBee and wife Patty of Pflugerville; sister, Gayla Kernan and husband Phil of Pittsburg, Texas; sister-in-law, Sue Glover of Kingsland; best friends, Linda and Rick Grantham of Buchanan Dam; as well as numerous friends, nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Betty McBee, and wife, Patricia McBee.
A celebration of David’s life is 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in the recreation hall at Edge Water Resort, 224 Winding Way in Buchanan Dam directly off Texas 261.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cross and Spurs Cowboy Church, attn: Ken Barrington, 101 Primrose Lane, Marble Falls, TX 78654.
Special thanks to the care provided by the nurses and doctors at the Seton Highland Lakes ICU Unit, where David spent his last few days; and also to his dear friends Larry Rutledge and Pam Satterwhite Kessel, who provided email updates on his condition.
