MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy girls basketball team scorched Lometa 78-42 on Dec. 3.
Lady Flames head coach Jerry English commended his athletes for their play.
“We had a pretty good talk before the game,” he said. “Sometimes, you feel like you get to them; sometimes, you don’t. I told them I felt like we lost our swagger, one of the driving forces behind our success.”
Five Lady Flames were in double figures including junior guard Taylor Denton with 20 points. She was 4 of 7 from behind the 3-point line.
“This is the first time Taylor shot the ball like we know she can,” English said.
Faith (5-2) was able to score quick layups thanks to its fast break, which led to a 24-5 lead after the first period. That went to 48-18 at halftime and 67-28 by the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Flames recorded 17 turnovers, a number the coach said he wants to see drop.
“We have had way too many turnovers, most of them unforced,” he said. “It’s hard to run without rebounding. We had just not done a good job of rebounding the ball.”
