Burnet girls 51, Austin St. Stephen’s 38 on Nov. 23

AUSTIN — The Burnet High School girls basketball team used a strong first half Nov. 23 for a 51-38 win against Austin St. Stephen’s.

The Lady Dawgs took a 15-7 lead after the first quarter that ballooned to 32-13 by halftime.

“Always nice to get a win,” Burnet head coach Doug Messer said.

As a team, Burnet was 20 of 50 from the field and eight of 17 from the foul line.

Burnet boys 37, Taylor 55 on Nov. 23 

BURNET — The Burnet High School boys basketball team lost to Taylor 55-37 on Nov. 23.

The Ducks set the tone by taking a 20-9 lead against the Bulldogs in the first period. Then Taylor simply outscored Burnet in each quarter en route to the win.

ON OFFENSE: points — Baumgart 12, Stevens 10, Bullock 9, Parker 6

RECORDS: Burnet is 0-2.

SUBVARSITY RESULTS: Burnet junior varsity lost 53-33.

Bastrop 75, Marble Falls boys 72 on Nov. 22

BASTROP — The Marble Falls High School boys basketball team lost to Bastrop 75-72 on Nov. 22.

Mustangs head coach Neil Laminack credited his players for a better effort in only their second game of the season.

“We played much better,” he said. “We’re still moving pieces around. With so many guys, it will take a little while to find the right combinations. I am OK with where we are at right now.”

He said the team didn’t handle one part of the contest well enough, however.

“Too many unforced turnovers,” he said.

TOP PLAYERS: Danny Rivara with 34 points and 18 rebounds; Travis Walker with 16 points, including four 3-pointers

RECORDS: Marble Falls is 0-2.
