Warriors player, Marble Falls student adds to baseball honors

Cooper Wilson shows the latest addition to his jewelry box: the USSSA state championship ring he won Nov. 10 as a member of the Warriors baseball team, a 13-and-under select squad. Wilson, an eighth-grader at Marble Falls Middle School, threw the final out from centerfield as an Austin Banditos runner was trying to score to preserve a 13-12 state championship win for the Warriors. It’s Wilson’s first state title. ‘It’s like the best thing that’s happened,’ he said. Other rings are from national championships, a runner-up finish and from The O tournament. The state tournament was for teams that play in the Majors, the highest form of select baseball for that age group. Staff photo by Jennifer Fierro
