FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School football team is one win away from qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

The Mustangs (4-5, 1-3 in District 25-4A) welcome Leander (4-5, 1-3) at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.

To help the team, the Marble Falls Athletic Booster Club has called for a “Purple Out,” which means members want fans to wear purple throughout the day.

In addition, fans are asked to bring a white towel to the contest to wave during the game with the aim of reviving the “Foul Towel” tradition. During the 1980s, Mustangs fans waved white towels to cheer on the squad.

Also, the booster club wants each family to bring one helium balloon to tie to the fence in front of the home concessions or home gate entrance.

And if fans have a favorite player, they can create a poster with his first and last name and player number to hang somewhere at Mustang Stadium. Posters can be dropped off during the freshman football games at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at the stadium.

The seniors associated with the football program, including trainers, Starlettes and cheerleaders, and their parents will be honored before the start of the contest because it’s the last game of the regular season. That event is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
