VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Marble Falls, Burnet fall to district opponents
Lady Mustangs fall to Vista Ridge
MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team lost to Cedar Park Vista Ridge 17-25, 18-25, 11-25 on Oct. 25.
Head coach Julie Downs commended her athletes for their play in the first and second sets but noted they struggled during the final game.
Downs applauded senior setter Haley Coulter and senior libero Lacie Long for their “tremendous play” and “guiding the Lady Mustang to bank more points against this team than in our first round of district play.”
“Haley did a great job of selecting hitters to set, dumping the ball when necessary, serving tough and hitting well,” the coach said. “Lacie … was a solid force in our offense, receiving serve and effectively passing to Haley to attempt to execute our offense.”
In addition to playing the Lady Rangers, the Lady Mustangs also conducted a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen foundation. Marble Falls sold 300 T-shirts, lots of baked goods, and seven baskets during the silent auction.
The Marble Falls junior varsity lost 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, and the Marble Falls freshmen lost 21-25, 23-25.
“All sub varsity teams are consistently playing tougher and advancing their skill level and abilities, which is our goal,” Downs said. “We are very proud of all our girls.”
