Burnet girls cross-country team, two from boys squad qualify for regionals

GATESVILLE — The Burnet High School girls cross-country team was third, and freshman Drew Kiser and senior Joe Parker finished in the top 10 of the boys varsity race of the District 8-3A meet Oct. 23. They all qualified for the Class 3A Region I Meet.

For Parker, it’s his second trip to the meet. For the Lady Dawgs, it’s their first since 2007. Kiser was the top freshman finisher in the event.[tabs style=”default”] [tab title=”BOYS RESULTS”]

“All of these runners represented themselves, their families and school with honor and competed hard,” head coach Stuart Dixon said. “I want to take this time to say thank you to all the runners, parents and supporters for their efforts and sacrifices they made this year.”

Abby Bullock, Autumn Freasier and Jordan Boyles earned all-district honors for finishing in the top 10 of the varsity girls race.

As a team, the varsity boys were fifth overall. Kiser, Parker and Nick Menchaca were named to the all-district team.

The boys junior varsity team came in fourth, and Brian Bullock was a medalist for finishing in the top 15.
