Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Ann Simpson, 83, of Round Mountain dies Oct. 6, 2013
 
                 Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Simpson, 83, of Round Mountain went to be with the Lord on Oct. 6, 2013. She was born to John and Emma (Davis) Massey on July 18, 1930, in San Marcos, Texas.
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Simpson, 83, of Round Mountain went to be with the Lord on Oct. 6, 2013. She was born to John and Emma (Davis) Massey on July 18, 1930, in San Marcos, Texas.
Betty was loved by everyone she met. She loved to fish, swim, ski, watch the sun go down over Lake LBJ, crochet, work crossword puzzles, play Scrabble and Yahtzee and, most of all, cook. Cooking for large numbers and her family was her specialty.
Betty was active in the Cub Scouts and the Brownies and taught Sunday school. She served as president of the PTA and the area council and a Little League secretary-treasurer in San Antonio. In She prepared the Wednesday night supper for many years at First Baptist Church in Kingsland as well as at First Baptist Church in Hobbs, N.M.
Betty was a fantastic Mama, Nannie and Great-Grand-Nannie. Her life was devoted to God and family.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Sid and Wandell Simpson Jr. of San Antonio and Guy and Ann Simpson of Kingsland; daughters and sons-in-law, Dee Ann and Tony Durant of Mesquite, Melody and Jay Yanniell of Round Mountain and Joy English of Austin; 16 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
We will miss the sparkle in her eye and the unconditional love and faith she exuded.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Sid Simpson; son J.T. Simpson; and grandsons Drew and Trey Simpson.
A celebration of life service is 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at First Baptist Church in Kingsland with the Revs. Dwight Reagan, Doug Lindley and Bubba Stahl officiating. Family inurnment will take place at a later date at Mission Park South Cemetery in San Antonio.
