OBITUARY: Ervin Earl Freitag, 89, of Spicewood dies Sept. 27, 2013

A service for Ervin Earl Freitag, 89, of Spicewood is 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at White Rock Cemetery in Bee Cave with Chaplain Carla Cheatham officiating. He died Sept. 27, 2013.

Earl was born April 17, 1924, in Bee Cave to Ernest and Bessie Phillips Freitag. He attended various county schools. He started working while just a child. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps until he became a soldier. He fought in Europe in the 9th Infantry and was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantryman Badge in addition to the usual medals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmo, Wesley and Robert; and sisters, Blanche Maddox, Edna Teague and Loree Wagner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Martha; sons, Fred Freitag and wife Linda, Paul Freitag and wife Shelly and David Freitag; daughter, Denise Downs and husband Tom; grandchildren, Kim Lucas and husband Sean, Farrah Freitag, Sarah Figer and husband Adrian, Karah Falke and husband Chris, Ryan Freitag, Derek Freitag and wife Chalise and Caitlyn Freitag; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
