Marble Falls volleyball starts strong in district loss to Leander Vandegrift

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team came close to claiming its first District 25-4A game of the season Sept. 24.

The Lady Mustangs matched Leander Vandegrift point for point in the first set. But in the end, the Lady Vipers had just enough for a 25-23 victory and then handled the final two games 25-13, 25-11 to take the match.

“The (Lady Mustangs) did a tremendous job in game one,” Marble Falls head coach Julie Downs said. “We outhit, outpassed and outserved the Vipers. Statistically, we defeated Vandegrift on all levels; we did not score and put the ball down when necessary. We are striving to play with more confidence and in the belief that we have the talent to win in this district.”
