Marble Falls freshman gold 12, Burnet 8

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School freshman gold team defeated Burnet 12-8 on Sept. 12.

The Bulldogs scored first, but the Mustangs responded in the second half.

In the third quarter, Marble Falls quarterback Armond Pierre ran for a 24-yard touchdown and then completed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Topoleski in the final quarter. Both conversion attempts failed.

Marble Falls welcomes Boerne Champion at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19 to Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.

Burnet travels to Lake Travis, 3324 RR 620 South in Austin, at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19.

Burnet 42, Marble Falls freshman purple 14

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School freshman purple team fell to Burnet 42-14 on Sept. 14 .

The Bulldogs took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Marble Falls quarterback Cade Cool scored from 33 yards out. Kicker Gavino Tinajera added the extra point.

After Burnet added another touchdown, Cool hit pay dirt again from two yards out after James Garrison intercepted a pass. Tinajera hit the extra point.

The Bulldogs scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, four in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth.

Marble Falls welcomes Boerne Champion at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 to Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.

Burnet travels to Canyon Lake, 8555 FM 32 in Fischer, at 7 p.m. Sept. 19.

Burnet junior varsity 23, Marble Falls 6

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls junior varsity lost to Burnet 23-6 on Sept. 12.

After Burnet took a 13-0 lead, the Mustangs got on the board late in the second quarter. Running back Eric Daughtery ran in a long touchdown, coaches said. The extra-point attempt was blocked.

Burnet added a late touchdown for the final quarter.

Marble Falls coaches said they were pleased with the efforts of defensive players Alex Roman, who had multiple tackles, and Jacob Vasquez, who forced a fumble in the third quarter. Cornerbacks Jackson Cox and C.J. Wilson also played well, they said.

Marble Falls travels to Boerne Champion at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Greyhound Stadium, 1 Greyhound Lane in Boerne.

Burnet welcomes Canyon Lake at 6 p.m. Sept. 19. to Bulldog Field, 1000 The Green Mile in Burnet.
