MARBLE FALLS — Several new faces for the Marble Falls High School volleyball team highlighted the scrimmages against Llano and Austin Hyde Park on Aug. 9.

And none were bigger than senior outside hitter Amanda Thomas, who decided to come back after committing to play softball for the University of Texas-San Antonio in early July.

“She’s going to be a huge contributor in a lot of ways,” head coach Julie Downs said.

Downs saw a lot of potential but was hoping for a smoother looking offense.

“I think we’re going to be  very aggressive on the court,” she said. “We have to be more consistent and get the ball to the setter.”

Other outside hitters include Taylor Brackenridge, Jacque Winn and Hanna Wall.

Senior Haley Coulter was a setter and a hitter. When she wasn’t setting, junior Maddie Johnson handled those duties.

“We have a lot of kids able to contribute in a lot of ways,” Downs said.

The Lady Mustangs begin the season Aug. 13 at home against Fredricksburg at 5 p.m. and Burnet at 6:30 p.m. Both matches will be at Max Copeland Gym on the high school campus, 2101 Mustang Drive.
