Young cowpokes compete in Burnet County junior rodeo

Colby Metzler begins to turn his horse after the two compete in an event during the Burnet County 4-H Horse Club’s Junior Rodeo on July 25. Originally scheduled for July 17, organizers postponed the rodeo because of lightning. About 34 competitors entered rodeo events, competing in pole bending, barrel racing, a goat ribbon run, straight-away barrels, clover leaf barrels and flags. Belt buckles were presented to all-around winners in each age group. Trophy halters were given to reserve winners in each age group. See more photos in the July 31 edition of The Picayune.
