OBITUARY: Melvin LeRoy Schwindt, 71, passes away July 2

Melvin LeRoy Schwindt, 71, of Marble Falls, passed away on July 2, 2013. Mel was born in Leoti, Kansas on Dec. 17, 1941 to LeRoy and Ruby (Ford) Schwindt.
He attended schools in Logan and Wichita County, Kan. Mel joined the Army in 1958 and spent most of his service in Germany. He lived in Leoti, Dodge City, Kan. and Colorado Springs, Colo. When he retired from the city of Colorado Springs in 1997, he moved to Marble Falls, where he spent the last 15 years operating his own business, Schwindt Welding. He also raised miniature cattle.
Mel was married to his loving wife, Peggy, for 29 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Rhonda Schwindt of Emporia, Kan. and Renee Strayer of Corona, Calif.; two granddaughters and five siblings, Bill Schwindt of Black Forest, Colo., Dorothy Lorenz of Littleton, Colo., Denese Davis of Colorado, Steve Schmidt of Leoti, Kan. and Shelley Ferre Dussel of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be held July 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Clements-Wilcox Chapel, 1805 U.S. 281 in Marble Falls, with Charles Waugh officiating.
