Burnet County deputies investigating Bertram homicide

BERTRAM — Burnet County deputies arrested a 42-year-old woman July 1 after she called and reported that she had shot her husband.
Karra Trichele Allen was charged with murder after Burnet County deputies responded to a residence in the 1400 block of CR 320 around 10:30 p.m. She is being held in the Burnet County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
A release from Burnet County Sheriff W.T. Smith stated the woman called the dispatch center at 10: 26 p.m. and told the dispatcher that she had shot her husband.
Deputies responded to the residence and found the body of 38-year-old Brian Dean Allen.
The victim was the son of former Burnet County Chief Deputy Rick Allen.
Burnet County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Peggy Simon ordered an autopsy of the deceased. The body was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for the procedure.
The Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab, the Texas Rangers and the 33rd/424th District Attorney’s Office provided assistance at the scene.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
