OBITUARY: Henry F. ‘Hank’ Peebles Jr., 88, of Horseshoe Bay dies June 26, 2013

Henry F. “Hank” Peebles Jr., 88, of Horseshoe Bay died June 26, 2013. He was born Dec. 9, 1924, to Hedwig Meier and Henry F. Peebles in Houston.He graduated from Lamar High School in 1941. He was so young, his parents enrolled him in Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas, for a year before he entered Rice Institute (now Rice University). While at Rice, he was called into the Navy during World War II and served as a naval officer in the amphibious forces in the Pacific.

After graduating from Rice with a degree in mechanical engineering, he was a regional sales manager for Dresser Mfg. Co., a division of Dresser Industries. He married Becky Prichard of Lula, Miss., in 1951, and they lived in Atlanta, Chicago and Houston. In 1960, he and Becky bought Southern Metal Mfg. Co., a manufacturer of fabricated food-service equipment and installed commercial kitchens.

Mr. Peebles retired in 1968, and he and Becky moved to Horseshoe Bay in 1996. He was a member of the Church at Horseshoe Bay and a former member of the Men’s Golf Association.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Henry F. “Trip” Peebles III in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; daughter, Ann Peebles Sisemore; granddaughter, Ashley Sisemore; grandson, Grant Sisemore and wife Kristi; and three great-grandsons, Tripp, Henry and Cole Sisemore, all of  Lago Vista. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann and Roy Moore of Madison, Miss.

Mr. Peebles requested no memorial service. If desired, memorial gifts may be sent to the Baptist Children’s Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060-0027, which he supported since 1970, or a charity of your choice.
