Marble Falls girls basketball players attend Lady Longhorn camp
SPECIAL TO THE PICAYUNE
AUSTIN — Eight members of the Marble Falls High School girls basketball team worked on their skills at Lady Longhorn Team Camp at the University of Texas on June 21-23.The Lady Mustangs competed well, head coach Chris Jost said, winning three of six games.
Marble Falls defeated Lake Travis and gave Class 2A powerhouse Brock “a very tough battle,” Jost said.
Texas A&M-Commerce assistant coach Justin Robinson coached the Lady Mustangs. University Interscholastic League rules do not allow high school coaches to train their own players during the summer.
In addition, freshmen Aubree Adams, Tiffany Dunavant, Morgan Hagood and Aspen Woerner attended the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Camp in Georgetown earlier in June.
The Lady Mustangs also have been playing in summer basketball leagues. An eighth- and ninth-grade team played in the Lampasas league, while junior varsity and varsity squads competed in the Leander league.
Jost will conduct the Lady Mustangs basketball camp July 29-Aug 1 at Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls. Incoming first- through fourth-graders play 10 a.m.-noon; incoming fifth- through eighth-graders learn 1-3 p.m.; and incoming ninth- through 12th-graders play 3-5 p.m. The cost is $40.
