MARBLE FALLS — A total of 250 people participated in the golf and tennis tournaments and attended the concert of country music singer Cory Morrow during the Marble Falls Athletic Booster Club fundraiser June 23.The golf tournament was only short two golfers and the tennis tournament was full.

Booster club president Laurie Hill Chapman said the event raised $14,500.

“We made twice as much money as we did last year,” she said. “We had a lot of auction items, and Cory Morrow helped us raise more money.”

More than 35 silent auction items raised $4,156.

“So, we did great,” Chapman said.

She added the weather cooperated by the time Morrow took the stage.

“Luckily, there was a breeze,” she said. “It ended up being very comfortable. We actually had quite a few people show up for the barbecue and silent auction.”

The club conducted the fundraiser for the second year, and Chapman said having the previous experience proved invaluable.

“We learn every year,” she said.

The membership drive and selling advertisements for the 2013 football season are under way, she said.

“Our membership drive is one of our bigger fundraisers,” she said.
