Candidates file for Highland Lakes elections on May 11

MARBLE FALLS — When voters head to the polls for the Highland Lakes elections May 11, they’ll find they have a lot of selections on the ballot, with a few exceptions.
The filing date for the May elections closed March 1. Residents have until April 11 to register to vote if they want to have a voice in the many contested races.
For more information on voting, dates and registering, go to www.votetexas.gov. The Burnet and Llano counties election administrators also have information on voting.
Below are a list of races and candidates. As more come in, the list will be updated.
CITY OF MARBLE FALLS
• Mayor: George Russell (incumbent) and John Davis
• City Council (three seats up): Jane Marie Hurst (incumbent), Ryan Nash (incumbent), Russell Buster and George “Butch” Kemper
CITY OF LLANO
• Mayor: Mike Reagor (incumbent) and Mikel Virdell
• City Council (two seats up): Sherry Simpson (incumbent), Gail Lang, John Ferguson, Todd Keller and Brian Miller
• Unexpired City Council seat: Allen Hopson, Rich Staley and Cheryl Crabtree
CITY OF SUNRISE BEACH
• Alderman (three seats up): Fred Butler (incumbent), Tommy R. Martin (incumbent), Billy Murphy (incumbent) and Bill Cargill
CITY OF GRANITE SHOALS
• Mayor: Dennis Maier (incumbent)
• Council Place 1: Anita Hisey and Terry Hartman
• Council Place 3: Eric Tanner (incumbent)
• Council Place 5: Carl Brugger (incumbent)
CITY OF BERTRAM
• Mayor: Dickie Allen (incumbent)
• City Council (three seats up): Pat Turner, Chris Simons, Glen Hopkins and Kim Klose
