CEDAR PARK — After the Marble Falls High School boys basketball team and Leander Vandegrift played to a 23-23 tie at halftime Feb. 1, Mustangs head basketball coach Neil Laminack predicted the team that woke up would would win the game.

And that team was the Vipers, who outscored the Mustangs 24-15 in the third quarter en route to the 73-56 victory.

“They went on a run a start the third quarter, and we just didn’t really bounce back from that,” Laminack said. “And as the game wore on, we just wore down.”

He commended senior guard Joey Blackledge and sophomore center Danny Rivara for their play.

“I thought Danny Rivara and Joey Blackledge made some plays to kind of keep us in there, hanging in there,” he said.
