February is American Heart Month, and we want your questions

MARBLE FALLS — According to the Centers for Disease Control, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. The Picayune and Dr. Elissa Thompson, M.D., are teaming up to help you help your heart.
Thompson is a cardiologist with Austin Heart and practices at the Marble Falls location, 1800 Mormon Mill Road.
Every Saturday at 9 a.m., Thompson hosts a walking group starting at her Marble Falls office. The idea behind the weekly walk is to encourage everybody, no matter what age, to get active.
Thompson told The Picayune in October 2012 that walking is one of the easiest ways to combat heart disease.
In February, Thompson will be writing a column each week in The Picayune about heart health. After all, the second month of the year is American Heart Month.
The Picayune is asking readers to submit heart-health questions for Thompson to answer. We’ll pick at least four questions to included as part of her columns.
If you have a heart-health question, submit it by email to editor@thepicayune.com or send it to The Picayune editor, P.O. Box 10, Marble Falls TX 78654.
And, if you want to take more direct action in preventing cardiovascular disease, join Thompson’s weekly Saturday walks. Along with encouraging good health, you will meet some supportive people as well.
