Marble Falls girls soccer squad loses 1-0 to Brenham at tourney

BASTROP — The Marble Falls High School girls soccer team opened the Colorado Cup Tournament with a 1-0 loss to Brenham on Jan. 18 at Bastrop High School.

Brenham’s goal came on a free kick, which was hard to take for Lady Mustangs head coach Trey Young.

“The hard part (is) I thought we outplayed (Brenham) in all phases,” he said.

He was pleased, though, with the Lady Mustangs’ defense, which kept Brenham from adding to its goal count. Young estimated his squad controlled 75 percent of the contest.

“It’s frustrating to control the flow of the game and not give up a goal,” Young said. “But to give up a goal on a set piece seems to be a pattern right now.”

He said his objective now is to show his players how to correct that.

Offensively, the Lady Mustangs got several shots on goal, but balls hit the post.

RECORD: Marble Falls is 2-3-1.
