Lady Mustangs sweep Dripping Springs in district for sixth straight season
DRIPPING SPRINGS — Foul trouble allowed the Marble Falls High School girls basketball team to force its will on Dripping Springs and sweep the Lady Tigers in District 25-4A for the sixth consecutive season.
Leading 35-31 headed into the final period, the Lady Tigers lost one of their top post players early. The Lady Mustangs outscored Dripping Springs 14-2 in the fourth for the 49-33 victory.
“She was having a pretty strong game,” Marble Falls head coach Chris Jost said about the Dripping Springs player. “Then in the fourth, we got a run.”
Also, Marble Falls played well on the road, he said, which is important considering the Lady Mustangs must win at Leander Rouse later in January.
“I think we got off to a good start,” Jost said.
Junior guard Emily Klingsporn, who was moved to the varsity shortly after Marble Falls beat Dripping Springs on Dec. 11, dropped in 10 points, including two 3-pointers in the second period. Jost said those six points helped give the Lady Mustangs a 25-23 halftime advantage.
