MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School boys soccer team opened up the season by winning its own Winter Classic Tournament on Jan. 12.

The Mustangs went 4-0 and the tournament and beat Salado in a 1-0 thriller Jan. 12 in the championship game.

“It doesn’t get any better than that,” Marble Falls head coach Michael Nave said. “They were extremely excited.”

The coach said he was most proud of the defense, noting the Mustangs beat Austin LBJ 1-0 and Lampasas 8-0 as well as Salado.

“I’m very pleased we didn’t give up any goals,” he said. “We had three clean sheets in the tournament. I think it says a lot about their mental and physical games.”
