Ed Niel Collins of Marble Falls, Texas, was born to Lois Onis and Minnie Mae Jennings Collins in Blufton (which is currently under Lake Buchanan) on March 9, 1935. Ed was welcomed into God’s arms Jan. 12, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 56½ years, Joan Julia Newman Collins; daughter Karen Lynn Gilbert; son-in-law Bradley Scott; grandchildren Ryan Scott and Kelli Larkin; daughter Traci Diann Frasier; son-in-law Richmond Henry; and grandchildren Megan Nicole Steward, Conor Collin Steward and Lillian Rose. He is also survived by brother Donald Gene; sister-in-law Billie; brother John David; sister-in-law Devon; sister-in-law Katherine and their families; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother Richard “Dick.”
He grew up in the Bertram/Joppa community and served in the Air Force. After meeting the love of his life, Ed and Joan moved to Houston, where they raised their two “favorite” girls. Ed retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as a radar technician and moved to Marble Falls to enjoy his retirement, working on his land, raising goats, gardening and, most of all, loving his family.

With his radiant smile and kind and generous heart, Ed was loved by all and he loved all.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Jan. 15 at the Church of Christ, 711 Broadway in Marble Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity or to the Church of Christ in Marble Falls.

We would like to personally thank our amazing family and friends for the love and support they have showered us with during Ed’s illness. We also would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, Odyssey Hospice and Granite Mesa Health Center for the kindness and care they gave to Ed. The Marble Falls Church of Christ family will forever have a special place in our hearts for the kindness they have bestowed upon us.
