MARBLE FALLS — A Marble Falls Area EMS ambulance crashed Jan. 9 about 10 a.m. on U.S. 281, sending the two medics on board as well as a patient to Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock.

The ambulance was transporting an individual to Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet when the vehicle began hydroplaning while traveling north just outside the Marble Falls city limits. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jose Columbo said the driver lost control of the ambulance.

The ambulance skidded across the two southbound lanes before slamming into an embankment.

Marble Falls Area EMS, Inc. Executive Director Johnny Campbell said the two medics and the patient had non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was wet due to rain.

This was the second accident in about 24 hours emergency crews responded to in almost the same spot.

A dump truck traveling north on U.S. 281 from Marble Falls on Jan. 8 apparently hit a patch of water about 10:30 a.m. causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle slid off the northbound side of the highway before coming to rest between a power pole and a tree.

Officials said nobody was injured in that accident.

The dump-truck accident was located about 30 feet north of where the ambulance ended up but on the opposite side of the highway,

Officials said drivers should use caution when driving in wet weather and slow down.
