Horseshoe Bay police nab man wanted on Travis County sex assault parole violation after foot chase

HORSESHOE BAY — A man wanted for a probation violation is in custody, following a foot chase that took authorities through two miles of rough terrain and portions of Lake LBJ, according to police.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Michael Weber just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 17 in the middle of Slick Rock Creek near Broken Bow Street in Horseshoe Bay.

A Horseshoe Bay Police press release stated the man ran away while investigators attempted to serve a warrant on him out of Travis County for a probation violation on the child sex crime charge.

The man also faces evading/escape and resisting arrest charges connected to a Nov. 15 incident in Cottonwood Shores, the report stated.

During the manhunt, authorities from four agencies searched residential neighborhoods “as the calls would come in from citizens who were reporting the route the foot pursuit was taking,” the release stated.

Police said the suspect jumped in and out of Lake LBJ twice causing law enforcement to launch boat searches.

As of Dec. 18 Weber remained in the Llano County Jail on third-degree evading/escape charges, as well as the Travis County probation violation warrant.
