<p>Walter M. Head passed away on Dec. 7, 2012. A resident of Art, Texas, Walter was born in Austin to Jesse and Helen Head in 1948.</p>
<p>In 1971, Walter married his sweetheart, Diana Gail Hunt. In their 41   years together, Walter and Diana raised four children and recently   welcomed their first grandchild.</p>
<p>Walter faithfully served the people of Texas throughout a long career   at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring as a district director   in the Department of Rural Development. During his life, he enjoyed   roping and riding and being outdoors.</p>
<p>At 6 feet 9 inches, Walter was a giant of a man physically but even   larger in heart and character. He will be remembered for his   intelligence, kindness, wisdom and ever-present sense of humor.</p>
<p>He is survived in loving memory by his wife, Diana; children Amy,   Wesley, Douglas and Audra; sister Linda; granddaughter Olivia; and a   host of other relations and friends.</p>
<p>Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Dec. 11 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral   Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A funeral service is 1   p.m. Dec. 12 at the Art United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cliff   Krcha officiating. Burial will follow at the Head Family Cemetery in   Art.</p>
<p>Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Hoff, Douglas Head, Will   Henderson, James Burroughs, Roger Jordan, Rusty Head, Kyle Beaver and   Benny Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Morris, Ronnie   Haffelder and Gary Bell.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Art United Methodist Church.</p>
