Children’s Christmas play

First Lutheran Church of Burnet is holding its children’s Christmas play 10:15 a.m. Dec. 23 at the church, 133 Apollo Drive in Burnet. The church also is collecting new or gently used coats or money to buy coats for children in the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District. Donations accepted until Dec. 16.

Christmas programs

Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church is holding two Christmas programs on Dec. 15 at the church, 19135 Texas 29 East in Buchanan Dam. “Branson@Buchanan,” a free show featuring music and comedy, is 7 p.m. Also, the church is turning into Santa’s workshop with “Some Assembly Required” 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The men of the church will help parents put together Christmas gifts.

Festival of Lights performance

The chancel choir of First United Methodist Church presents Festival of Lights at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 in the sanctuary at the church, 1101 Bluebonnet Drive in Marble Falls. Guest performers include the University of Texas Chamber Orchestra. The event also features performances by youth and children’s choir members and an Advent candle-lighting service. The ninth annual KITY Radio Feed the Hungry food drive is through Dec. 17. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at H-E-B grocery stores at 1503 RR 1431 West in Marble Falls, 105 S. Main Street Bethlehem

New Year’s Eve dance

The annual New Year’s Eve dance is 8 p.m.-midnight Dec. 31 at the Kingsland Convention & Community Center, 3451 Rose Hill Drive in Kingsland. Deejay Jarrod Beck will play traditional and newer country, old-time rock ‘n’ roll and waltz and polka music. Event features party favors, snacks and a champagne toast at midnight followed with black-eyed peas and cornbread. BYOB. Soda, water and ice will be available. Senior center holiday parties

The Marble Falls Senior Activity Center is holding its Christmas party 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14. Wrapped toys should be brought to be donated to The Helping Center in Marble Falls. Chips and dips, sandwiches, cookies, hors d’oeuvres and punch will be served. The Hinkle family will provide music. A New Year’s Eve party is 7 p.m.-midnight Dec. 31. Tree lighting

The 43rd annual LBJ Tree Lighting is 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park, 199 Park Road 52 in Stonewall. Activities before the lighting include food sampling noon-5 p.m., ornament decorating for children at 5:30 p.m. and holiday music at 5:30 p.m. “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be shown in the park theater after the lighting with Santa and refreshments.
