Mary Barron
Mary Barron, 91, died Oct. 19, 2012, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was born on Sept. 21, 1921, in Jones County to Roscoe and Cornelia Greenway.
She grew up on a farm, where she learned hard work from her parents. She was very proud that she and her sister, Carolyn, could do anything better than their three brothers — except pick cotton (her brother Whit was the star of that job.)
She married Dalbert Barron on June 28, 1942, during the first part of World War II. As he served his country, she awaited his return on the farm. After he came home, the couple moved to Borger, where they raised three sons — Bert, Royce and Joe. After the boys started school, she returned to college, earned her teaching degree and beginning a career in education. She was most proud that all her family, including her husband, earned college degrees. The couple retired beside peaceful Lake LBJ in Granite Shoals and lived there until his death.
According to the family: Mary and Dalbert are back together again. Dalbert returned to his Heavenly Father on Jan. 30, 2002, and has been patiently waiting since then. We often spoke of this, and Mom would laugh nicely as we all knew Dalbert was not the most patient person!
Survivors include sons Bert and wife Christy of Dallas and Royce and wife Cookie of Spanish Fork; and grandchildren Joe, Randy, Daniel and Gina.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son Joe on March 2, 1990.
A funeral service is 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet. She will be buried next to her husband and son.
