Beatrice Joy Lauderbach Kennedy, 85, of Austin and Marble Falls, died Oct. 17, 2012.

She was born to Robert Lauderbach and Celia Pashel Lauderbach on Feb. 23, 1927, in Manhattan, N.Y., and was raised in New York, Alabama and Massachusetts. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University in 1950 and with a Master of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in 1954. 

She was employed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., when she met her future husband, Harold G. Kennedy, of Marble Falls. 

They were married in Marble Falls in August 1954. They moved from Marble Falls to Austin in 1959, where they raised their family. 

She was a teacher and taught at Marble Falls Elementary School in the 1950s, Allison Elementary School in Austin in the 1960s and Dawson Elementary School in the 1980s.

She was a devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Survivors include her sons Bruce and wife Laura Kennedy of Austin, and Neal and wife Cheryl Kennedy of Marble Falls; daughter Janis and husband Bill Hampton of College Station; grandchildren Carrie Kennedy Mauldin of Tyler, Dr. Katie Kennedy Root of Hallsville, Will, Matthew, Ashley, Sarah, Grant and Daniel Hampton, all of College Station, Kaylyn and Leah Kennedy of Marble Falls, and Stephen and Michael Kennedy, both of Austin; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years in 1994.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail in Austin, (512) 443-1366. Graveside services follow at 2 p.m. in Marble Falls City Cemetery in Marble Falls.
