Wiley Joseph Leavitt Jr.

Wiley Joseph Leavitt Jr., 70, of Kingsland died Oct. 17, 2012. He was born on Sept. 28, 1942, in Round Rock to Wiley Joseph Sr. and Vida Simpson Leavitt. He was raised in Leander.
He was a carpenter and building contractor by trade until he retired to Lake LBJ in Kingsland in 2002. He enjoyed swimming and playing in the lake with his grandchildren and loved going to their athletic events, especially softball and baseball.
His hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his friends, remodeling, welding, fishing and hunting.
He was a member of Kingsland Community Church in Kingsland for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn, of Kingsland; daughter Tina Leavitt Simmank and husband Gary of Marble Falls; son Jeff Leavitt and wife Kim of Leander; grandchildren Valerie Simmank, Kasey Leavitt, Justin Leavitt and Lee Ann Harkins and husband Dusty; great-grandchildren Drake and Sam Harkins; sisters Ruby Floyd and Doris McEachern, both of Liberty Hill, and Christine Harris and Mabel Travis, both of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Patricia Coleman and Vida Nelson.
Visitation is 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Oct. 20 at Kingsland Community Church with the reverends John Woody and Tommy Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
