BURNET — Bulldog Nicholas Payne recorded an interception, but Brownwood recovered a fumble and ran it back 40 yards for a touchdown to put the game out of reach Oct. 11.

Brownwood 22, Burnet 8th White 16

BURNET — The Bulldogs raced to a 10-0 halftime lead, but the Lions came roaring back Oct. 11.

A Brownwood ball carrier didn’t hear the whistle blow and flipped the ball up to have a teammate catch it and reach the Bulldogs’ 7-yard line. The Lions later scored.

As Burnet was driving for the game-winning touchdown, a receiver caught the ball on the 3-yard line for two steps then dropped it as he fell to the ground, coach Randall Alford said. Officials declared it an incomplete pass.

The Lions ended the game with an interception and ran out the clock.

TOP PLAYERS: Steven Gallardo scored touchdowns of 5 and 60 yards. Carlos Herrera kicked a 24-yard field goal and an extra point.

ON OFFENSE: Drew Kiser, Nathan Evans, Cash Ringstaff, Alex Rodriguez, Luis Gonzalez and Clint Ringstaff
